Q: How do I register?
A: Registration is direct through Stony Point www.stonypointcenter.org/uawsc
Once registered with Stony Point, members will receive a follow up email from UA for coordinating your conference arrival & participation.
Q: Is this event just for GSRs, or for everybody?
A: All UA members interested in World Service & helping the UA Fellowship carry the message of recovery are welcome to register and participate at the WSC. The focus of a World Service Conference is on service; and the schedule will incorporate time for sharing UA recovery experience, strength and hope throughout. Please note that GSRs & GSB are the voting body at the WSC.
Q: What is the schedule or itinerary for the WSC?
A: A Conference Agenda Group (CAG) is formulating the Agenda and schedule for the WSC. It will be posted as soon as it is available. Topics proposed thus far include Service Structure of the UA fellowship, Literature proposals and priorities, Public Information, Finance Development, Technology vision, and more. Additional input for the CAG will come from Groups who respond to a Conference Group Outreach. Check with your Group GSR or Group contact to learn more about this.
Q: What will it cost?
A: There are three full conference options covering Thursday evening – Sunday Afternoon. $330 is for Lodge Accommodations, $430 for GS House and $193 for commuters (no lodging). These are all inclusive for the WSC including materials, meals and fellowship event.
Q: What airport should I fly into to reach Stony Point?
A: The recommended airport is Newark Liberty International, about 1 hour by car from Stony Point Center.
Other airport options in proximity are LaGuardia Airport (1 1/2 hours), JFK Airport (2 hours), and the smaller airports of White Plains and Newburgh/Stewart (45 minutes). New York City traffic can extend travel times for LaGuardia and JFK considerably.
Q: Will there be transportation provided to Stony Point from Newark, LGA, JFK or NYC?
A: We are collecting travel information in registration part 2. Minimally, we will have “Logistics volunteers” seek to connect you with other attendees, so your costs to reach Stony Point may be shared.
Q: Can Groups still apply for scholarship?
A: No, scholarship deadlines were 8/21/16 and 9/20/16.
Q: How can I volunteer?
A: Email firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer. We welcome all volunteers.
Q: How do I donate to the conference?
A: 40% of all donations made on the UA website or sent to the UA PO Box go towards the WSC. You can earmark your entire donation to go the WSC if you make a special note when donating via the website or mailing address.
